In total, Covid-19 was found in ten Olympic participants from abroad, three of whom are athletes, two of whom live in the Olympic Village and one outside it.

As promised by the head of the Olympic Games Organizing Committee, Toshir Muto, the organizers are doing everything possible to rule out the spread of the virus in the Olympic Village and keep everyone safe.

Approximately 18,000 athletes and gaming officials will live in 21 buildings in the 44-hectare Olympic Village. National delegations are already gradually arriving in Japan. More than 2,200 players were scheduled to arrive in Tokyo by the end of the week.

The Athletes’ Village is usually a place of rest and meeting for athletes from all over the world, but communication will be limited due to the Covid-19 pandemic. For example, you will have to keep a distance of two meters, even during meals.

Also, athletes will not be able to embrace, shake hands or visit each other at their residences, but will have to wear face masks outside their hotel rooms. Alcohol is only allowed in the rooms.

Contact with locals and excursions are also prohibited.

Athletes are allowed to come to the village only a few days before the first starts, but after the end of the competition they have to leave their place of residence within two days.
