Covid-19. In Châteaubriant, the bars close at 10 p.m.

On the front lines of the Covid-19, “The situation is worrying” alert Jean-Jacques Coiplet, director of the ARS, the Regional Health Agency, during a press point this Thursday, October 15, in the evening.

Châteaubriant has an incidence rate of 280 (number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants), for a positivity rate of 14.5%, according to the town hall. The prefect of Loire-Atlantique informed the municipality of these very high figures, implying the closure of bars from 10 p.m., from Saturday, October 17, 8 a.m., until November 3.

In Loire-Atlantique, the incidence rate is 123, for a positivity rate of 8.6%. For the 24 municipalities of the Nantes metropolitan area, the incidence rate is 149 and the positivity rate is 9.9%.

17 clusters in Nantes

For the city of Nantes alone, the incidence rate is 178 (it was 170 a week ago). And, still in Nantes, seventeen clusters are being investigated, twelve of which concern schools and universities. “It is not related to the activity linked to teaching, but to student life”, says the ARS.

For the moment, Nantes Métropole has not gone on heightened alert, but it is getting closer. This could involve, among other things, an earlier closure of bars.

Increased vigilance is required. Pierre Blaise, doctor at the ARS, calls for example the customers of the bars “To remove the mask only to drink, and to put it back systematically when you talk with your friends or colleagues who are at the same table as you”.

Already, the prefect of Loire-Atlantique, has limited the tonnage to 1,000 people for large gatherings, especially football and handball matches.

Moreover, throughout France, all private parties, such as weddings or student parties, are prohibited in party or multipurpose rooms or any other establishment open to the public. A decision that occurs when a Night curfew is in place from Saturday October 17 in Île-de-France and in eight metropolises.
