Covid-19. Government will declare state of alert. Security forces in a state of readiness – O Jornal Económico

The Government announced today that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Health will declare a state of alert across the country, putting civil protection means and security forces and services on standby.

The decision was taken in the Council of Ministers that ended after midnight on Friday.

The Council of Ministers also decided to take “several measures for the organization and functioning of
public services and other types of establishments ”:

  1. The suspension of all classroom and non-teaching activities in the classroom
    schools at all levels of education starting next Monday
    March 12;
  2. The organization of public services, namely the strengthening of public services
    digital devices, the establishment of frequency limitations to ensure
    possibility of maintaining a safe distance and the centralization of
    information to the citizen about the presence of services;
  3. Acceptance by public authorities, and for all purposes
    the display of documents whose validity period expires during
    the term of this decree-law or within 15 days
    immediately before or after;
  4. Restrictions on the operation of nightclubs and the like;
  5. The ban on disembarking passengers from cruise ships, except
    of residents in Portugal;
  6. The suspension of visits to homes across the national territory;
  7. Shopping centers and supermarkets will establish limitations on
    frequency to ensure the possibility of maintaining a safe distance;
  8. Finalist travel postponed, travel agencies required to provide travel at other times;
  9. Government monitors chain stores to ensure that food is not lacking on supermarket shelves. “We have been working with logistics and distribution operators. The supply chains will be maintained ”, guaranteed the Minister of Economy, Pedro Siza Vieira.
