Covid-19 detected for two passengers traveling to and from Aglona, but not for festival participants – in Latvia – News

During the epidemiological investigation, SPKC epidemiologists found that two passengers, for whom Covid-19 was approved, were traveling by bus on the routes Rēzekne-Daugavpils with the flight number 7479, from the Aglona stop at 11.17 and Daugavpils-Priežmale with the flight number 5506, at 16 to the stop Aglona.

A representative of the SPKC confirmed that both patients were not participants in the Aglona Festival, so there is currently no reason to believe that a local transmission of the disease could occur during the festival.

The Catholic Bishop of the Rezekne-Aglona Diocese, Jānis Bulis, admitted that he had received a message from the local police that an infection with Covid-19 had been detected in the Aglona region.

As the infection is not related to the pilgrims or the sacred square of the Aglona basilica, the festive services will take place as planned, Bulis announced.

The Church reiterates its call on all participants to take care of their personal hygiene and to carefully observe the safety requirements set during the festival.

For both infected persons, a circle of contacts is identified and additional tests are performed. In this case, the chain of infection is also known. The center states that the source of the infection is a patient living in another administrative area who has been visiting the now infected.

All passengers traveling on these flights should contact the SPKC epidemiologist on 67271738. If symptoms occur, contact their GP and have an investigation on Covid-19.

If one of the participants of the Aglona Festival was driving these buses, they should go home and contact the SPKC epidemiologist by the above-mentioned phone number.

Everyone has the opportunity to take the state-paid Covid-19 test, even if there are no symptoms. It is mandatory to check in advance by calling 8303 on weekdays from 8 am to 8 pm, on Saturdays from 9 am to 3 pm and on Sundays from 9 am to 12 noon.

The SPKC reminds that in such cases, the “Stop Covid” application can help to find out sooner that you have been in contact with a Covid-19 patient. By using the app, you will be able to isolate yourself in time, so as not to endanger family, colleagues, friends and other residents.
