COVID-19 Community Testing Center in Clark County

This free community testing program provides a service for those who attend by car and a service for those who attend by foot. Participants are advised to pre-register online before arriving at the test center.

The test is an important tool to decrease the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Getting tested does not increase morbidity in our community.

The test identifies people who are infected with COVID-19. When testing is available and accessible in the community, we can more quickly identify and isolate people who are sick with COVID-19. We can also faster notify everyone who had close contact with the person who tested positive that they may be at risk of getting sick. Close contacts can then quarantine at home so that if they develop COVID-19, they are not exposing anyone else. Getting tested and staying home if you are sick or have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 can decrease the amount of virus that spreads in the community.

People with COVID-19 can have a wide variety of symptoms, from mild to severe. Symptoms can appear 2 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. People who have these symptoms or combinations of symptoms may have COVID-19 and should be tested:

  • Tos
  • Shortness of breath or trouble breathing
  • Fever
  • Shivering with repeated chills
  • Muscle pain
  • Headache
  • Sore throat
  • Recent loss of taste or smell
  • Fatigue
  • Stuffy or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

The free test is available to anyone who has symptoms of COVID-19, may have been exposed to COVID-19, or is concerned about their condition. This test is recommended from 4 years of age. The tests can be given to participants under the age of 4, but they must be able to cough loudly for the test to work properly. If you are under 18, you must go to the test accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The tests are available to everyone regardless of citizenship or immigrant status. You do not need to have health insurance to be tested. No one will receive a bill for this test. If you have health insurance and provide that information, the lab will bill your insurance for the cost of the test. Billing insurance when possible helps ensure that everyone in Clark County has access to the free trial.

The test used at the COVID-19 Community Testing Center in Tower Mall is most effective for people who have COVID-19 symptoms and who are tested within 14 days of symptoms start .

People who do not have symptoms of COVID-19 can still be tested, but the result may be a false negative. A negative test result does not rule out
COVID-19. You should also take precautions to reduce the risk of being exposed to or spreading COVID-19. If you have questions or concerns regarding your test result, please contact your healthcare provider.

A negative test result does not mean that you will still not get sick, and it does not mean that you cannot be exposed to COVID-19 in the future. Keep avoiding gatherings, stay at least 6 feet (1.8 m) away from others, and wear a face covering whenever you’re with people you don’t live with.

Visit the Clark County Public Health website for more information on COVID-19 symptoms, tests, and recommendations for people who test positive and their close contacts.
