News: How do you feel about the situation in Cahors?
Dr. Thierry Debreux : The new fact is the reception on Thursday March 11 of a patient transferred to us from Aix-en-Provence. Several departments find themselves in difficult situations. There are level 4 crossings for some hospitals, which requires an adaptation of the healthcare offer and the triggering of the Plan Blanc. This results in the “deprogramming of surgical activities that can be” in order to free up hospital places for patients with a severe form of Covid-19.
Do you expect further transfers to Cahors hospital?
Dr. T. D. : Probably next week. We expect to receive new patients from areas where the situation is most tense. Several sectors are clearly in tension, such as Montpellier, Nîmes, Marseille, the Paris region …
While we thought the situation was improving, is it rather the opposite?
Dr. T. D. : In the Lot, nothing to worry about, on the contrary. But this is not the case everywhere, across the country. We are lucky to live in a department where the virus hardly circulates, with not too many patients. Once again, some large cities and metropolises are strongly impacted.
So the time has not yet come to let our guard down?
Dr. T. D. : Never ! Until a majority of people are vaccinated, at least 70 to 80% of the population! Let’s keep the barrier gestures, let’s protect each other. Patience! Let’s continue the tests, intensify the vaccinations. We are increasing the pace as the vaccine doses arrive. From April 8, vaccinations will ramp up! We want to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible!
