Country pledges to investigate in a circle

With regard to its investigation into the expansion and modernization of the Frankenbahn, the state plans to include the entire route between Heilbronn, Lauda and Würzburg.

Main-Tauber district. The head of the Ministry of Transport, Dr. Uwe Lahl, clarified in a letter to District Administrator Reinhard Frank. Before that, there was the impression that the country only wanted to take the section of the route from Heilbronn to Osterburken and thus especially disregard the part in the Main-Tauber district. In contrast, District Administrator Frank had written to the Ministry of Transport.

In his answer, Dr. Lahl: “In the meantime, our internal considerations regarding the report have continued to thrive. The study area is to go from Heilbronn to Würzburg to take the opportunity to take a comprehensive look at this railway line using a comprehensive timetable and acceleration study. In my opinion, this is also advisable due to the growing importance of the route, which is part of the Trans-European Railway Network (TEN) as a basic network route. Please be assured that it is our common aim to achieve substantial improvements on the entire Heilbronn – Würzburg route.

District Administrator disappointed

District Administrator Frank’s letter to the Ministry prompted a report on a future report for the Frankenbahn, which the Ministry of Transport had commissioned. Accordingly, only the route from Heilbronn to Osterburken should be examined, but not the section from Osterburken through the Main-Tauber district to the state border with Bavaria or to Würzburg.

District Administrator Frank was disappointed and irritated about this in his letter to the Ministry, also because “the Main-Tauber district has always been a supporter of the Frankenbahn and is currently providing high financial benefits for the agreed regional train cycle between Osterburken and Lauda”.

The district administrator pointed out that he was aware that the majority of the stops between Lauda and Wittighausen were included in the station modernization program II.

Statement is missing

The Zimmer stop is to be funded via the State Municipal Transport Financing Act (LGVFG). However, a statement on the construction of the provisional second platform in Königshofen is still missing. “The further development of the section from Lauda to Osterburken is currently open. In the Main-Tauber district, this affects the Königshofen stop as well as the Wölchingen, Eubigheim and Neckar-Odenwald district in Rosenberg. In my opinion, an expert report only makes sense if the entire route from Heilbronn to Würzburg is examined and evaluated with regard to the necessary measures, ”wrote district administrator Reinhard Frank and asked for a binding clarification.

He is grateful to have received it now and hopes that the report will be prepared quickly and that actual improvements will follow quickly.

Important message

“The message from Ministerial Director Lahl is of great importance, especially in connection with the irritation surrounding the Go-Ahead railway company,” added the responsible head of department, Jochen Müssig from the district office. The state has announced that Go-Ahead will cease operating regional express trains between Stuttgart and Würzburg for two years due to a lack of reliability.

“The message from the Ministry of Transport shows that the country is sticking to the further development of the Frankenbahn despite the planned change of operator,” concludes Jochen Müssig. lra
