Only buyers of the Ultimate Edition will receive a free upgrade to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Last week, the Control Ultimate Edition was announced, which includes the main campaign and all the add-ons. However, this edition has one more peculiarity. Only Control Ultimate Edition buyers receive a free upgrade to PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. This decision has not found understanding among a number of players.
Publisher 505 Games tried to explain why they did this. We are assured that it took the company several months to explore options for the Control Ultimate Edition, and “no solution was easy.” 505 Games said “any game is not easy to release on next-gen consoles,” and in the case of Control, “it’s even harder to improve last year’s game to a new generation while maintaining full platform parity.”
“In each of the options we considered, in one form or another, problems arose, due to which at least one group of players was left without an upgrade for various reasons. We cannot offer the upgrade to everyone, ”the statement said.
Only the Control Ultimate Edition will be available for purchase on PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Owners of the original Control and Season Pass DLCs will be able to play the game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X through backward compatibility. Control Ultimate Edition owners will also receive special graphical enhancements for next-generation consoles that will not be available in the standard version.
Buyers of the original Control and DLC pack will not be able to get the Control Ultimate Edition for free.
