Coucke also sells successor to Omega Pharma

Entrepreneur Marc Coucke sells the pharmaceutical company Ceres Pharma to a French investment fund. Coucke had founded that company after he sold Omega Pharma to the American Perrigo.

The companies involved announced this on Monday. Just like Omega Pharma, Ceres Pharma specializes in prescription-free products. Ceres has grown considerably in recent years through acquisitions. Etixx sports drinks and a formerly part of Mithraare accommodated in it.

The French investment fund Naxicap Partners is now acquiring Ceres Pharma, both companies confirm. Financial details of the transaction will not be disclosed.

Coucke started Ceres Pharma together with former Omega Pharma manager Mario Debel. He will remain the CEO of the company after the takeover. He will also reinvest a large portion of the proceeds from the sale in Ceres Pharma, a press release said.

Naxicap Partners will support the company in expanding its market position. ‘The focus will be on the internationalization of the company and further expansion in the Benelux, Central Europe and possibly beyond.’
