Côte d’Or | These bright spots in the sky that always intrigue

“On Saturday January 18, 2020, between 7 p.m. and 7:15 p.m., a friend and I saw a parade of stars. The stars were in motion, perfectly aligned, with a constant gap and speed. We observed about fifty, if not more, before the phenomenon stopped. These stars followed the same trajectory and all disappeared at a precise point in the sky. They weren’t blinking, there was no sound and their brightness was constant. What was it? Have you received other testimonies? ”

Here is the testimony received in the night from Saturday to Sunday by our editorial staff. Immediately, this story, sent by a certain Delphine who was then at Clénay, made us think back to those received on December 25th. That day, many of you alerted us to moving light points in the sky of Côte-d’Or. And the explanation was then the same as in May 2019 when a strange phenomenon had frightened the canvas : the StarLink satellites of the Californian company Space-X.

After checking on Heavens-Above site, specializing in astronomical phenomena and data on the passage of satellites, it is these satellites that seem to have been seen on Saturday evening by our internet user. Indeed, according to data for Dijon, a cloud of 59 StarLink satellites was visible from the city of the dukes between 6:49 p.m. and 7:32 p.m. Saturday evening (a new satellite being visible every 1’30 minute and each satellite being visible for a little over 2 minutes).

And if you roll up your eyes this Sunday, you may well fall back on these bright spots. Because, still according to Heavens-Above, a first group of 20 StarLink satellites should fly over Dijon between 17.54 and 18.27 this January 19 before the passage of a new cloud of 62 vehicles between 19.09 and 19.58.

As a reminder, with these StarLink satellites, the objective of the American Elon Musk, founder of Space-X, is to allow access to the Internet by satellite throughout the world.

If you have pictures of the passage of these satellites over the Côte-d’Or on Saturday evening, do not hesitate to send us your pictures to [email protected] specifying where, when and by whom. photo has been taken.

A. Collomb : “We saw this string of light this evening around 7 p.m. above the Plaine-Joux plateau in Haute-Savoie. Then later 5 other light points much more distant from each other still on the same trajectory and which again all disappeared in the same place! Mind-blowing! “

F. Monin: “Seen in Saône-et-Loire also in the town of Thurey around 7 pm. Same phenomenon as in Côte-d’Or.”

Eric P.: “In Eure et Loire, in Louvilliers-lès-Perche, we also saw around 12:10 am Sunday around fifty light points following each other at identical distance. They were a little higher than the satellites that we can usually see. phenomenon that intrigued us seems similar to that seen in Côte-d’Or. “
