CÔTE-D’OR: The winners of the General Agricultural Competition honored by the Department

Having distinguished themselves at the last Agricultural Show in Paris, farmers and producers from the Côte-d’Oriens were rewarded on Thursday May 5 by the Department. Agriculture and the Côte-d’Orienne brand were defended by François Sauvadet.

This Thursday, May 5, 2022, the reception in honor of the Côte-d’Oriens winners of the General Agricultural Competition at the 2022 Agricultural Show allowed the Department to send them congratulations and give them awards. It was “a moment to salute the know-how, the competence, the commitment” of all the winners according to the words of François Sauvadet, the president of the local authority who also insisted on “a brand image of the Department in agricultural matter, an image of excellence”.

The Côte-d’Oriens who participated in the General Agricultural Competition brought back 72 medals but also 120 titles, obtained during the various competitions of the Agricultural Show, donating 56 medals for the wines of the Côte-d’Or (19 in gold ) or 80 titles awarded to sheep breeders.

Those from the cattle and sheep sectors were praised during the evening at the Department, for the quality of their breeds and their meats, also for the passions transmitted from generation to generation within the farms.

The defense of production agriculture with environmental value

Having reaffirmed the positions taken by the local authority, on the development of the Savoir-faire 100% Côte-d’Or brand or on the departmental water strategy, François Sauvadet once again defended the maintenance of a production while preserving the environment.

For the president of the Department of Côte-d’Or, also president of the Assembly of the Departments of France, the challenge is to work more broadly on “a global conception of society” which does not stigmatize agriculture and recognizes the efforts of its players while paying attention to the environmental value of products and their prices. All the more so in a context of rising inflation and cost control at the international level.

“Traceability, prices, consumers expect that too,” added François Sauvadet, announcing that the Department “will soon have 250 members of the 100% Côte-d’Or know-how brand”. The Delin milk carton stamped in this way will be distributed and accessible to consumers from next week.

“I am renewing my offer so that the brand enters the City of Dijon gastronomy. This is not the case today and the Department does not provide its funding”, also slipped François Sauvadet (read the press release). By repeating to the address of the Côte-d’Oriens winners of the last Agricultural Show in Paris: “Agriculture is a tremendous opportunity. It means having your efforts and your professions recognized as a source of the future. It is to promote excellence”.

“A large number of productions which all tend towards excellence”

“We are lucky to have a large number of productions in this department which all tend towards excellence, which have an influence on a very, very large scale, up to the world level. The quality of these productions contributes to the richness of our rural heritage”, underlined Vincent Lavier, president of the Chamber of Agriculture of Côte-d’Or.

The host of the evening Yannick Fanet at the microphone to call farmers in the spotlight, the awards were presented by representatives of the Côte-d’Orient agricultural landscape and elected officials from the Côte-d’Or departmental council. Fadila Khattabi and François Patriat, deputy and senator LREM of the Côte-d’Or, were also present at this ceremony.
