CÔTE-D’OR: NUPES calls for participation in the march against the high cost of living and climate inaction

The departmental coordination transmits the national appeal of the founders of the NUPES on the action scheduled for this Sunday, October 16 in Paris.

Press release of the coordination of the NUPES of the Côte-d’Or of 12 October 2022:

Expensive life, climate emergency, pensions… Let’s walk together on October 16th in Paris

In Côte-d’Or as everywhere in France, the founding parties and movements of NUPES are asking with one voice to participate in the National March against the high cost of living and for the ecological bifurcation, this Sunday, October 16, in Paris.

We are pleased with the extension of the national appeal to a large number of trade unionists, associations and personalities.

Prices are exploding and the end of the month is getting harder and harder. But the macronist power, at the exclusive service of the employers of the largest companies, refuses to raise wages, freeze rents or freeze prices in the face of the high cost of living. Worse still, it predicts new attacks on the pension system and unemployment insurance and completes the destruction of public services, especially education and health.

The planet burns, there is no water and biodiversity collapses, but the government, already condemned for environmental inertia, is pursuing an anti-ecological policy that endangers the very future of the planet. However, there is an absolute urgency to act to plan the essential transition in the face of the climate emergency.

While France’s 63 billionaires emit as much greenhouse gas as 50% of the French population, and despite this dizzying ecological footprint, the hyper-rich can still enjoy their super-polluting jets and yachts without any regulatory or legal obstacles. The super-profits tax, still implemented in many European countries and essential to finance the ecological transition and protect the most vulnerable, is not yet on the agenda!

This situation cannot continue.

We will walk on Sunday:
For the increase in wages, the minimum wage (1600 euros) and social minimums, and against the reform of the unemployment insurance;
for freezing the prices of energy, basic necessities and freezing rents;
for the immediate taxation of super-profits;
for massive investments in ecological bifurcation (renewable and non-polluting energy …) creating local jobs;
make public transport accessible to all;
for ecological agriculture and healthy nutrition accessible to all;
against the postponement of the retirement age and for his return to 60 years;
for an autonomy allowance for young people from 18 years old!

First signatories (national): Europe Ecology-The Greens, Together !, FIDL, Democratic and Social Left (GDS), Left Ecosocialist, Generation s, La France insoumise, L’Alternative, La Jeune Garde, La Voix lycéenne, New Party Anti -capitalist (NPA), New Deal, French Communist Party (PCF), Left Party (PG), Independent Workers’ Party (POI), Socialist Party, Public square, For a popular and social ecology (PEPS), Ecological revolution for Living (REV).
