Costa Rica exceeds 80% of the target population with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine

The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) delivered on Tuesday the weekly report on the progress of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Costa Rica.

According to the data provided by the institution and analyzed by Delfino.cr, during the previous week (forty-first campaign) 163,798 doses of vaccine were applied, which represents a slowdown in -48.51% compared to the fortieth week when 318,088 doses were applied in one week.

In total, the CCSS reports 5,760,293 doses of vaccine as placed of the 6,352,755 that have been received by the country (88.00%). Of the doses placed, 3,470,013 are first doses (60.25%, +62,799 new) and 2,290,280 are second doses (39.75%, +100,999 new).

81.18% of the target population (≈4,274,384) have received the vaccine: 53.58% It has the complete two-dose schedule. Last week’s data was: 79.71% of the population with a vaccine, 51.22% with two doses. The number of the target population pending to receive doses from the CCSS was reduced to 804,371 people.

At age range of 58 years and older, made up of 817,906 people, 1,513,860 doses (+4647 new) have been placed, of which 766,224 correspond to first doses (+2795) and 747,636 are second doses (+1852). Thus, 93.68% of this age group have already received the first dose, and the 91.41% already received the second.

In the age group of 40 to 57 years, made up of 1,124,875 people, 1,737,506 doses were placed (+45,421 new ones), of which 973,243 are first doses (+13,256) and 764,263 correspond to the second (+18,479). Thus, 86.52% of this group have already received the first dose and the 67.94% you already have the second.

In the age group of 20 to 39 years, made up of 1,733,463 people, 2,051,540 doses (+87,708 new ones) have been placed, of which 1,378,035 are first doses (+33,759) and 673,505 are second doses (+53,949). 79.50% of this group already have the first dose and the 38.85% already received the second.

Finally, in the age group of 12 to 19 years, made up of 601,140 young people, 457,387 doses (+26,022 new) have been placed, of which 352,511 are first (+12,989) and 104,876 are second (+13,033). In this way, 58.64% of this age group already have the first dose and the 17.45% you have already received the complete schematic.

The group that received the most new doses last week was made up of people between 20 and 39 years of age, with 53.54% of the total of the new vaccines applied; followed by the 40 to 57-year-old group with 27.72% of the new doses.
