Coronavirus: what we know about the sites where French returnees will be isolated

While a sixth case of coronavirus infection, a liberal doctor, was detected in France, according to the Ministry of Health Thursday evening, things are progressing concerning the French present in Wuhan, where the virus appeared in late December. Thus, French returnees from the city must arrive in France Friday morning and will be placed in isolation in a holiday center in Carry-le-Rouet, in the Bouches-du-Rhône.

Also according to the Ministry of Health, the 200 people concerned will be placed in confinement for 14 days. “They will above all be accompanied, throughout their stay in the Bouches-du-Rhône, with medical monitoring H24. (…) We have really planned the optimal support for a life as pleasant as possible under fairly atypical conditions “said Jérôme Salomon, director general of health to the ministry of health, on Thursday.

The holiday center was chosen in particular for its capacity, namely 140 rooms, but also because it is, according to the authorities, an isolated place, therefore easier to secure. It can only be accessed by a single road and two paths at the beach. According to the mayor of Carry-le-Rouet, Jean Montagnac, the gendarmes arrived at 2.30 p.m. to secure the three accesses. Jean Montagnac indicates that he was informed first by the media, then by the prefect.

Another place chosen by the authorities to welcome returnees from Wuhan is the Aix-en-Provence Higher School for Firefighting Officers (Esosp). A site with an area of 30,000 m² where several hundred people can stay, with individual rooms and medical technical platforms.
