Coronavirus is proposed to be called a new name because of its complications on the vessels. This proposal was made by Italian scientists who published an open letter.
The new name looks like this: “microvascular COVID-19 blood vessels of the lung with obstructive thrombotic syndrome.” That’s it, experts say, suitable for severe pulmonary coronavirus disease, Izvestia writes.
The virus not only damages blood vessels, but also contributes to the formation of blood clots in the human respiratory organs. As a result, the patient develops multiple organ failure, which ends in death.
Russian doctors agree with the conclusions of Italian colleagues. But they consider the renaming of the virus pointless. The fact is that the relationship between coronavirus and the development of pathologies has not been reliably established today. But the fact of increased thrombosis is confirmed by a study of deceased patients.
