Enbetween January 16 and 22, hospitals admitted an average of 127.4 new patients with Covid-19 each day (+ 5%), according to provisional figures from the Sciensano Public Health Institute published on Saturday morning.
The number of people hospitalized as a result of the coronavirus currently stands at 1,923 (-1%), including 338 (stable) in intensive care.

Between January 13 and 19, 1,963.6 cases of Covid-19 were detected on average per day (-4%). The virus’s reproduction rate goes back to 1.06, down from 1.04 the day before.

The coronavirus also claimed the lives of 50.3 people on average over the same period, down 3.6%.

Since the start of the epidemic in Belgium, 689,271 cases of contamination have been detected and 20,675 people have died from the virus. There have also been 50,786 cases admitted to hospital since March 15, 2020.
