Coronavirus: Second case in Vienna also negative

In Vienna there is an all-clear for the second suspected coronavirus case. A Chinese citizen who was admitted to the hospital on Sunday evening has tested negative for the new corona virus. However, there are already two other suspected cases. After traveling to China, two Austrian citizens have been treated at the Kaiser Franz Josef Hospital since Monday morning.

The two patients were in a generally good condition and are not seriously ill, according to the Vienna Hospital Association (KAV). The woman was the second negative suspected case. She lives in Austria, but was on vacation in the crisis area in China. The patient was taken to an isolated ward and the test result was available Monday morning. As with the first suspected case of a Chinese stewardess, it was negative.

Wife and husband went to hospitals independently

The two new suspected cases are a woman and a man. The two Austrian citizens went to Vienna hospitals independently of one another on Monday mornings – once to the AKH and once to the Kaiser-Franz-Josef Hospital. That patient from the AKH was also transferred to the 4th medical department in Vienna’s Kaiser Franz Josef Hospital.

After traveling to China, the two patients both have the corresponding symptoms with fever and cough, according to the Vienna Hospital Association (KAV). It has yet to be clarified whether they were on their China trips to the affected Hubei province. They are both treated in the isolation ward. The department at Kaiser-Franz-Josef-Spital, which specializes in diagnosis and treatment, has decades of experience and has the highest technical standard.
