Coronavirus: Madrid replicates care for coronavirus patients in 7 of its 13 medicalized hotels | Madrid

The Community of Madrid is retracting the activity in seven of the thirteen medicalized hotels set up to attend to patients diagnosed with coronavirus with favorable evolution, but who could not continue their recovery at home. A total of 2,213 patients have been discharged from these adapted hotels, out of the 2,724 admissions they have received since they began this new activity of assistance to health centers in the Community of Madrid, the regional government points out in a statement.

The withdrawal will be done in an orderly manner, depending on how the real income needs evolve. The figures continue to point to the decrease in healthcare pressure in the region. The Community of Madrid registers this Thursday 393 people cured of coronavirus more and reaches the figure of 36,707 people who have overcome the disease, according to regional social vice president, Ignacio Aguado, has pointed out on social networks. He also points out that the region manages to lower the 5,000 hospitalized patients admitted to conventional beds and ICUs.

Of the 13 hotels put into operation for these patients, five of them have stopped accommodating the sick: Las Provincias, the Catalonia Plaza Mayor Hotel, Euroforum Palacio de los Infantes, the City House Florida Norte Hotel and the Barceló Occidental Aranjuez Hotel, which It has also served as a rest hotel for professionals, a function that it will continue to maintain.

Two other establishments, the Marriot Auditorium and the Ilunium Atrium, have stopped accommodating new patients in their facilities, although they continue to attend to those who were already there. The six medicalized hotels that continue to maintain the activity are the Hotel Ayre Gran Hotel Colón, the Miguel Ángel, the Hotel Vía Castellana, the Hotel Vértice Roomspace, the Hotel NH Parla and the Hotel Praga.

In addition to the medicalized hotels, the Community maintains 1,700 beds in 22 hotels for the accommodation and rest of health and non-health professionals who work in hospitals, on a half-board basis.

The Community of Madrid has invested more than 8 million euros in these 35 hotels that have welcomed both patients affected by coronavirus and healthcare professionals who have rested in these establishments to avoid infecting their families. The Governing Council approved on Tuesday the reports of the resolutions ordering the emergency start-up and contracting of these special services to combat the health crisis.
