Great Britain: GDP up 6.6% in July (-11.7% compared to February)
In Great Britain, GDP increased by 6.6% monthly in July, recording the third consecutive increase. This was announced by the English national statistics office which however reports that GDP has recovered only half of the loss caused by the lockdown following the coronavirus epidemic. At the moment, GDP remains 11.7% below the February 2020 levels. Industrial production, on the other hand, increased by 5.2% between June and July 2020, with manufacturing making the largest contribution to the upside, in 6.3% increase; electricity and gas (2.7%), water and waste (2.4%) and mines and quarries (0.7%) also increased. The 6.3 percent monthly increase in manufacturing output was driven by transportation equipment, which increased by 18.5 percent.
