Coronavirus is still unleashed in Brazil: it registers 16,600 new cases and more than 500 deaths in the last 24 hours

Brazil added another 16,600 new cases of coronavirus to its global balance on Monday, in addition to 500 additional deaths from covid-19, according to the latest data published by the country’s Ministry of Health.

Specifically, according to the Brazilian health authorities, in the last 24 hours 16,641 new people have been infected, so that Brazil already has 2,750,318 positives. As for deaths, the additional 561 have raised the global count to 94,665.

By region, the Brazilian state most affected by the pandemic is, by far, Sao Paulo, which accounts for 560,218 cases, 1,533 registered in the last day. After Sao Paulo are Ceará and Bahía, which have 176,961 -381 new ones and 171,391 -915 additional ones.

The Brazilian Ministry of Health has highlighted that a total of 1,912,319 people have managed to recover from covid-19 in the Latin American country, a figure higher than that of the cases that still remain active, 748,585.

This same Monday it has been known that General Walter Braga Netto, head of the Cabinet of the Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro, has tested positive for coronavirus, making him the seventh Minister of Administration to become infected.

Last week, the minister of the General Controllership of the Union (CGU), Wagner Rosário, and the minister of Science and Technology, Marco Pontes, tested positive for covid-19, according to information from the G1 news portal.

The wife of the president, Michelle Bolsonaro, has also tested positive a few days after the president announced his recovery from the same disease. At the moment there have been no symptoms and it is in good condition.
