Coronavirus in Ukraine – why there is a low incidence in the Kirovograd region

In the Kirovograd region, despite the growing number of people infected with coronavirus in Ukraine, quite low rates of infection, hospitalization and mortality from the disease are recorded. The regional authorities associate this with strict requirements for sanitary standards and active vaccination of the population.

As told TSN with reference to the chief physician of the Central City Hospital of Kropyvnytskyi Alexander Artyukh, as of October 20, about 70 patients were in the medical institution under treatment for coronavirus, which is about 30% of the total occupancy of beds.

At the same time, Artyukh expressed the hope that there will be no medical collapse in hospitals in the region, as in the spring.

“The city has enough medical personnel, hospital facilities,” the doctor said.

In turn, the city council explained to journalists that the spread of infection in the city and the region is hindered by strict restrictions on the transport of the regional center.

“Public buses and trolleybuses run half empty. There are queues at stops. People are unhappy, but they have already got used to it and have resigned themselves,” the officials said.

They also emphasized that the number of people wishing to be vaccinated against COVID-19 is increasing in the region.

“Now a third of the townspeople have already been vaccinated. A significant part of them are elderly people. The exit points of vaccination go directly to the pensioners,” the city council said.

According to officials, such organization saves the city and the region from the rapid spread of infection.
