Coronavirus in Spain: outbreaks, cases, deaths and latest news from September 26

CATALONIA: 9 DEAD AND 1,884 MORE CASES

Catalonia has registered 160,716 accumulated confirmed cases of coronavirus until Saturday – 136,058 with a PCR test -, 1,884 more that in the count on Friday, the Ministry of Health of the Generalitat has informed through its website. The total death toll amounts to 13,293, 9 more than those registered on Friday: 8,086 in a hospital or social health center, 4,185 in residence, 840 at home and 182 that are not classifiable due to lack of information.

Regarding the admitted patients currently, the figure stands at 739, which represents a decrease of 33 cases compared to the previous count. A total of 137 patients are admitted to the intensive care unit (FIA), the same as in the previous balance.

Regrowth risk rate has risen, and continues to exceed the level of 200: on Friday it reached a level of 204.81 and 24 hours later it is at 207.59, while the speed of reproduction of the disease (rt) has been located at 1.21.

Confined classes

Catalan schools have registered until this Saturday 922 confined groups and four centers closed due to coronavirus outbreaks -three in Barcelona and one in Lleida-, as reported by the Ministry of Education of the Generalitat in a data update. They are 133 group lockdowns and no closures other than those registered until this Friday: the Petit Montessori nurseries and the municipal Gràcia nursery in Barcelona, ​​the Llar d’Infants La Florida in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona), and the Bambarol in Almenar (Lleida).

There are a total of 20,398 people who belong to the educational community in quarantine: 18,860 students, 1,349 internal teachers and staff, and 189 external workers. Regarding positives, there are 1,792: 1,583 from students, 199 from teachers and internal staff, and 10 from external staff.
