Germany registers new incidence records and new infections
Germany has registered this Wednesday a new maximum of incidence and daily infections since the pandemic began, with an insufficient vaccination rate to cope with the fourth wave of the coronavirus.
German health authorities reported 39,676 new infections, the third record in less than a week, after the 37,120 reported last Friday and the 33,949 on Thursday, according to data from the Robert Koch Institute.
The cumulative incidence at seven days stands at 232.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, after 213.7 yesterday and 201.1 on Monday, and against 146.6 a week ago.
In addition, it was reported that the death toll from COVID rose to 236, up from 194 a week ago. And they reported 1,105 hospitalizations.
Up to now, 67.2% of the German population has been vaccinated with the full regimen.
