Coronavirus in France: Another record increase in coronavirus infections – 45,422 cases

For another day in a row, France saw a record increase in coronavirus infections. 45,422 new infections were found during the last day. 138 people have died, the country’s health ministry said on Saturday.

The day before, the ministry reported 42,032 new infections and 298 deaths.

The positive test rate is now 16 percent, up from 4.5 percent in early September.

France is the seventh country in the world to have exceeded one million infections since the start of the pandemic. In total, 1,086,497 cases were found there, and 34,645 people died from COVID-19.

In the last 24 hours, 1,667 infected people were admitted to hospitals, which increased the total number of hospitalizations in France to 15,637. 2,491 patients are in intensive care units.

French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday, during a visit to a hospital in Pontoise near Paris, said that you will have to live with the coronavirus until next summer. He added that he did not intend to limit the curfew, which applies in most of the country, or even extend it.
