Update, April 27, 3 p.m .: Saxon trade association is pushing for the rapid opening of larger stores
The Saxony trade association has pushed for the rapid opening of shopping centers and larger stores. That is a necessary next step, said managing director René Glaser on Monday of the German press agency.
Appropriate hygiene protection concepts were available for shopping centers, furniture stores, electronics stores as well as department stores and fashion stores. Glaser criticized what he believed to be the “arbitrary limit” of 800 square meters up to which shops were allowed to reopen. He therefore welcomed the recent move by Saxony’s prime minister as a “first step”.
On Sunday, Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer announced that together with Saxony-Anhalt’s Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff (both CDU) at the federal-state decision-making round on May 6th, he would campaign for the opening of larger businesses. Anyone who limits their sales area to 800 square meters with the “cord solution” should be able to open under the applicable protection rules from the beginning of May.
At the same time, Glaser made it clear that this solution was not enough for retailers: “In a next step, we are demanding that the entire retail sector be allowed to open again.”

Update, April 27, 1:09 p.m .: Exams in Corona times: Are the Abitur results contestable?
Complaints and objections to the Abitur exams in connection with the corona pandemic should be filed with the supervisory authority before the written exams or during the exams. The Dresden lawyer specializing in administrative law with a focus on school and examination law, Veronika Wiederhold, advises this. The contact points are the schools themselves or, as in Saxony, the State Office for Schools and Education, where a placement agency has been set up.
A general refusal to take an exam is very risky. If, in advance, the examination has been demonstrably complained to the responsible examination authority and the examination was expressly completed only with reservations, the question could then be clarified as part of an examination contest.
In the case of a mask requirement, Repeat believes that in the best case it should be demonstrably criticized before the examination. Students with pre-existing conditions, such as asthmatics, should also consider applying for disadvantage compensation.

Update, April 27, 9:35 a.m .: Corona slows down amusement parks
The season in the amusement parks of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia should actually start at Easter. They were all ready to go. But the corona virus slowed them down. It is a disaster for operators and employees. Even if they are allowed to open again in summer, the losses can no longer be made up.
“We are currently only driving an emergency crew,” said Bazil El Atassi, managing director of the “Belantis” amusement park south of Leipzig. Only a few of the 250 to 300 employees are there to maintain the technology and keep the 25 hectare site in good shape.
Everywhere in Germany roller coasters and water slides stand still. It is not foreseeable how the demand will develop when the parks open again, said the managing director of the Association of German Leisure Parks and Leisure Enterprises (VDFU), Jürgen Gevers. Because of short-time working, some people may have more time during the week at the moment, but they may also pay more attention to money than usual.
Gevers made it clear that many an amusement park threatens to close forever: If the unusual start of the season in the Easter holidays should be followed by a ban on visits during the summer holidays, that could mean the end of around 40 percent of the parks.

Update, April 26, 5:06 pm: Museums and libraries should be able to reopen from May 4
Museums, libraries and exhibition spaces in Saxony should be able to reopen from May 4th. Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) announced on Sunday.
The basis for the reopening is a protection concept of the museum association, with which the hygiene in the sanitary facilities is adapted and visitor concentrations in front of individual exhibits are to be avoided.
Kretschmer emphasized that he was talking about what was possible and not just what was not possible. “We make decisions with caution. It has to be about finding a life with the virus,” said Saxony’s head of government.

Update, April 26, 3:15 p.m .: Kretschmer announces the reopening of the zoos in Saxony on May 4
Zoos and botanical gardens in Saxony should be open again from May 4th. That was agreed in the Saxon state government, said Prime Minister Michael Kretschmer (CDU) on Sunday in Halle. There he had previously discussed with his counterpart from Saxony-Anhalt, Reiner Haseloff (CDU), about the further course in dealing with the corona pandemic.
Details of the reopening of the zoos and similar facilities have yet to be determined, said Kretschmer. It is clear that long queues should not form and the number of visitors would have to be limited.
It is important that one can understand contact chains, said Kretschmer. In the mountain zoo in Halle, visitors would therefore have to pre-book season tickets online or the evening before, which can only be used in the specified window.
