Only one day after the announcement of measures to protect the population against the coronavirus, the Vaud State Council tightens the screw.
“It was essential to clarify the measures taken yesterday, in particular on the social distance, established at 2 meters by the Federal Office of Public Health, explains the Vaud Minister of Health, Rebecca Ruiz. Indeed, we already noticed yesterday that certain establishments did not respect what we had decided and we observe too many people who go out, everywhere, standing close to each other. ”
With or without a terrace, bars, cafes and restaurants are now forced to close at 10 p.m. every evening, until further notice. The measure will apply this evening, Saturday.
Second major measure: customer spacing. On the one hand, a minimum distance of two meters must separate the tables from each other. On the other hand, a distance of at least one meter must separate each cutlery, except for tables that have only two cutlery.
Finally, two other measures aim to limit the influx of customers onto the terraces. Thus the high tables are limited to two people standing and customers who do not have a table cannot be served.
The limit of 50 people (customers and staff) per closed room is applicable to all establishments. The text specifies that the terrace is included in the calculation. A café-restaurant with several closed rooms is entitled to place 50 people there as many times.
On a delegation from the Council of State, it is the ministers Rebecca Ruiz (health) and Philippe Leuba (economy) who together sign a four-page application directive. The text was distributed shortly after 5.30 p.m. It comes into force “with immediate effect”. The text also specifies that “the measures must be applied imperatively” and that “controls will be carried out and strict sanctions will be imposed on violators”.
Note that discos, night clubs and erotic clubs have been completely banned since yesterday. Same regime for cinemas, theaters, museums, sports centers, youth centers, fitness, swimming pools and wellness centers. Their doors must remain closed.
