Coronavirus barometer in Ile-de-France: hospital point on May 10

More exits than admissions to the hospital, finally!

For the first time since mid-September, the number of people hospitalized for Covid-19 last week was lower than the number of patients discharged from hospital. 2,200 people were hospitalized the week of May 3 (compared to 2,900 last week) while 2,494 patients were able to return home.

6,783 Covid patients hospitalized in Ile-de-France as of May 9

The total number of patients hospitalized for Covid-19 stood at 6,783 this Sunday, May 9, compared to 7,535 the previous week, a further decrease. The peak was reached on Monday April 19 with 8,210 hospitalized patients.

After reaching 6,663 on November 15, the number of patients hospitalized for Covid-19 in Ile-de-France made the yoyo, descended to 4,684 on January 7 then oscillating around 5,000, 5,500. peaked at 8,210 on April 19.

Intensive care admissions below the peak of the 2nd wave

574 patients were admitted to intensive care or intensive care for Covid-19 the week of May 3 against 760 people the previous week. The number of new patients in shifts for Covid thus falls below the peak of the 2nd wave.

The number of new ICU admissions had passed the peak of the second wave since the week of March 8. The peak of the 2nd wave was reached the week of November 2 with 641 admissions. That of the first wave the week of March 30, 2020 with 1648 admissions.

The cumulative number of people in intensive care remains above the theoretical capacities of the region

In total, 1,506 patients were in intensive care or intensive care for Covid-19 in Ile-de-France on Sunday May 9 against 1,693 the previous Sunday, down for the 3rd week. Despite this constant decline, the number of patients in sheaves remains above the theoretical reception capacities of the region, of the order of 1,200 places.

Since March 15, the number of Covid 19 patients in intensive care has exceeded the peak of the second wave which was reached on November 12, with 1,138 patients. That of the first wave was reached on April 8 with 2,668 patients in intensive care in Ile-de-France. The number of people in intensive care has greatly exceeded the theoretical gauge planned in the region, around 1,200 beds, causing other care in the chain to be deprogrammed.

Average age of ICU patients roughly stable

The average age in intensive care has decreased with the vaccination of older people. Thus, the over 70s who represented more than 40% of patients in sheave at the end of January now represent less than 30%. At the same time, those under 60 have gone from less than 30% to almost 40%.

376 people died in Covid-19 hospital last week in Ile-de-France

376 people died last week in Ile-de-France against 484 the previous week, down for the second week in a row.

Dated May 9, 19 428 people had died from Covid-19 in hospital in the region since the start of the pandemic. The number of people who died from Covid-19 in hospital exceeded 10,000 in Ile-de-France the week of November 15. It is now tending towards 20,000.

A peak of deaths on April 20

In this 3rd wave, the peak of deaths was observed on Tuesday April 20 with 124 deaths in one day, exceeding that of the second wave, which was 113 deaths on November 9, but below that of the first wave which had was reached on April 7 with 276 patients who died.

90,819 people discharged from the hospital

In Ile-de-France, 90,819 people hospitalized in Ile-de-France for coronavirus have been able to return home since the start of the epidemic.
