Coronavirus: Are we facing a Fifth Wave? | could-be-worse-group-programs

The virus has had us in a critical situation for two years.

The setback of some phases in the country has brought back the ghost of confinement. However, and despite the fact that experts rule out new episodes of confinement, the reality of returning to the seriousness of the virus with more daily deaths is close and very dangerous.

To understand the situation, we spoke with the infectologist Jeanette Dabanch, who considers it somewhat arbitrary to speak of a fifth wave with 5 million laggards who do not comply with their full vaccination schedule. Unlike other contagion peaks, she reflects, this one is completely avoidable and depends on the will of the citizens.

“We are in a pandemic, whatever we call it, the possibility of an increase in cases is real since only 16% of the global population is not vaccinated,” he maintains.

Regarding a new wave, the doctor is categorical in her point of view on the matter.

“We can avoid it and it depends on the care of each one. We are dealing with a new virus and vaccines can help us, however, it is necessary to have a complete scheme when seeing the rapid evolution of the new strains of the virus”

Modern Vaccine

Several users have expressed their disapproval of this rare vaccine in the national territory (most of the country has Sinovac or Pfizer), expressing discomfort in this regard after their fourth dose. But the doctor calls for calm, maintaining that there are no problems with Moderna and in fact, most European countries have a population inoculated with it.

“All vaccines can manifest pain, this always happens and is very individual. It happens with the flu vaccine and others; the vaccines we have in the country are efficient, and Moderna is one of the most widely used vaccines in developed countries. The discomfort passes, but sometimes the consequences of the coronavirus last longer than the disease itself.
