Here we are. The first six months of 2020 have passed, between lockdown, phase 1, 2 and 3. A tormented and difficult period that has indelibly marked our lives. We are at war – they told us – against an invisible enemy, but above all that we do not know and with whom we will have to learn to live with. Incredulous, frightened, confused, resigned, we are also preparing to share the second half of this particular year. Six more months to better understand, define and deal with Sars-CoV-2 and its drift Covid-19.
Now more than ever we need credible information. Infectious diseases, particularly those such as Covid-19, remind society that medical and health research remains as vital as ever. They serve as a reminder that we as a society are not invincible and have a long way to go to understand this unprecedented coronavirus.
Despite the fact that in the last six months the news has also created confusion, amplified doubts and hopes, despite the fact that the experts themselves, including organizations such as the WHO, have found themselves displaced or divided on many issues, science – with its scientific method – it is insurance for the future.
