Coronavirus affects the Prince Laurent family

Those who fell ill do not want to lose the 56-year-old prince for privacy reasons. Laurent and his wife Claire have three children. The family is very careful, he says. “We only come out to exercise, with a mask and gloves.”

Laurent was kept in an artificial coma after pneumonia in 2014, but says he is not afraid. “If you must die, you must die.”

The prince is seen as the black sheep of the Belgian royal family, partly because of a series of scandals.
