Wednesday April 22, 2020, theRegional Health Agency (ARS) records a total of 14 deaths for the Lot department, one more than the day before, since the start of the epidemic.

There are also 27 hospitalizations in progress, including 9 people in intensive care. The ARS also counts 110 home returns to date.

Tense situation in the north of the Lot, stable in Cahors

“In the Lot department, hospitalizations have hovered around 25 people in recent days. For the time being 9 patients are in intensive care in Cahors. As for the containment unit at Cahors hospital, it has around ten people; admissions are announced, outings are scheduled, “said Dr Jean-Bernard Solignac, of the Council of the Medical Association of Lot, coordinator with the Regional Health Agency of Occitania.

Biars-sur-Cère: The Biars-sur-Cère home and residence has experienced some difficulties due to the forced withdrawal of personnel tested positive for Covid-19, which have now been replaced.

Saint-Céré: at the nursing home, contaminated personnel were quarantined at home for a period of 14 days.

There is a shortage of nurses and nursing assistants at the St-Céré hospital and nursing home. It was therefore necessary to transfer patients to Cahors, Figeac or Gourdon.

Staff transfers have also taken place in favor of these establishments.

“Following the tests carried out, the people who tested positive for Covid-19 were put on sick leave and were replaced, as far as possible. This helps limit the spread of the disease, “said Dr. Solignac. At the end of this confinement period, the staff will resume their duties, as soon as they are declared asymptomatic (the disease is not accompanied by symptoms). On the other hand, the personnel who would develop the disease could not return to their work stations before being cured.

“Which means that for a good two weeks, the situation will not be easy in these establishments,” suggests Dr Solignac.
