In its daily bulletin, Monday, March 23, the Regional Health Agency of Occitania reported 23 people tested positive for Covid-19, and 6 tests awaiting results in the Hautes-Pyrénées. At Tarbes hospital, 6 people are hospitalized. Five of these patients joined the Covid-19 pulmonology unit. The sixth is in intensive care and his condition is now stabilized.
“We have to understand that we are upstream,” said Sophie Pauzat, director of the prefect’s office, Brice Blondel, by telephone on Monday. “To have a fairer view of the situation in our department, we must above all look at the number of people hospitalized now”. Indeed, the tests being performed on the most serious patients, it is difficult to continue to use the number of confirmed cases to analyze the evolution of the epidemic.
Christophe Bourriat, the director of the Tarbes Hospital, explains to us that from now on, every day at 12:30 p.m., there will be an enlarged coordination meeting between the various health establishments in the department. Thus, the hospitals of Lannemezan, Lourdes, Bagnères-de-Bigorre and the Ormeau clinic support the support establishment: the Tarbes hospital. “On Monday, we invited Dr. Millet, president of the council of the Medical Association to this meeting,” explains Christophe Bourriat. “He is going to be the link between city doctors and health establishments. »Indeed, they will do everything to allow congestion to be relieved beforehand of emergencies.
To do this, consultation units will be set up in Tarbes (Parc des expositions), Lourdes, Vic-en-Bigorre, Bagnères, Lannemezan. Volunteer doctors will greet patients with Covid symptoms, and may or may not refer them to hospital.
