PT Bio Farma (Persero) received 2,400 corona vaccine from Sinovac, a company from China. If it passes the clinical trial, the corona vaccine can be reproduced by Bio Farma because it does not exist patent.
“There is no patent in the collaboration,” Bio Farma Corporate Secretary Bambang Heriyanto told CNNIndonesia.com, Tuesday (7/22) night.
Quoting the Directorate General of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, patent rights are the exclusive rights of inventors or inventors of the invention for a certain period of time carrying out their own or giving approval of other parties to carry out their findings.
The phases of the Sinovac corona vaccine clinical trial by Bio Farma will be scheduled to begin in August. The clinical trial process is estimated to take six months.
It is targeted that the clinical trial process will be completed in January 2021, so that Bio Farma can immediately produce the corona vaccine.
Regarding prices, Bambang estimates that the corona vaccine is priced at US $ 5-US $ 10 per dose or equivalent to Rp72,500 to Rp145 thousand. However, the price range can still change.
“We still calculate the price of the corona vaccine, for a temporary estimate, the estimate is US $ 5-US $ 10,” he added.
Previously, President Director of Bio Farma Honesti Basyir targeted to produce the corona virus vaccine in the first quarter of 2021.
Correspondingly, Bio Farma prepares to prepare its production facilities with a maximum capacity of 250 million doses.
“If the third-stage covid-19 clinical trial runs smoothly, Bio Farma will produce it in the first quarter of 2021,” he said.
