On Thursday at 9.30 am ‘TestCovid’ opens on Spoor Oost in Borgerhout, the first Belgian test village for Covid-19 on a large scale. Residents of the city of Antwerp and four neighboring municipalities can have a test taken there.

The test village is not freely accessible, but only by appointment. Visitors must meet four criteria to be tested:

Drive-in

The test village is comparable to a drive-in, a system in which as many people as possible can be helped in a short time. “Initially, the test village will be open seven days a week from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm from Thursday 6 August for a number of weeks,” the city of Antwerp said in a press release. It is estimated that between 500 and 600 tests will be taken per day. If necessary, it can be expanded.

There are three test streets: two for people arriving by car, one for pedestrians. Those who come by bicycle leave it in the bicycle shed and walk along the street with their pedestrians – at a sufficient distance. Those who come by car will remain in the car during the test.
