Berlin (dts news agency) – Companies are leaving large parts of the stabilization measures already approved from the Economic Stabilization Fund (WSF) unused. As the “Welt am Sonntag” reports, citing figures from the Federal Ministry of Finance, only 3.7 billion euros have been called up to date.
A further 4.8 billion euros have been approved, but will not be used by the companies. A total of 17 companies have so far gone through the approval process. According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs, around 100 other companies had expressed their interest, but no deal had been reached. A year ago, on May 25, the WSF was the first to approve Lufthansa’s stabilization package.
Of the nine billion euros released, 5.8 billion euros came directly from the WSF, which was set up to a total of 600 billion euros and was set up specifically for large companies. Lufthansa has so far only used 1.3 billion euros of this. This includes a silent participation of one billion euros, and the federal government spent another 300 million euros on the Lufthansa share package amounting to 20 percent. The company has not yet touched another silent partnership amounting to 4.5 billion euros.
