At present, many people refrain from calling a doctor or going to a hospital if they experience complaints because they fear they will become infected with Sars-CoV-2. However, doctors strongly warn against sitting out at home instead of calling an emergency doctor, such as symptoms of a heart attack or stroke. It is precisely here that there are complications that could be prevented by quick action.
In a press release, district administrator Thomas Eberth and Lord Mayor Christian Schuchardt encourage people in the Würzburg region to entrust themselves to the clinics in the city and district if necessary. “The long-term consequences of delayed serious illnesses are much more real than a possible infection with the Corona virus. The clinics in the city and district have taken all safety precautions to prevent the risk of infection.”
Dr. Johann Löw, head of the health department for the city and district of Würzburg, confirms the politicians’ appeal: “Even in ‘corona times’, necessary treatments must be carried out in good time to minimize or even prevent consequential damage.”
“No increased risk”
“Anyone who comes to us for treatment does not run an increased risk of becoming infected with the coronavirus,” emphasized Prof. Dr. Georg Ertl, the medical director of the Würzburg University Hospital (UKW), was at the beginning of May. “In the university hospital, every new patient, whether emergency or elective, i.e. with an appointment, is given a mouthguard and is tested to see if he is infected with COVID-19. If so, we can separate him directly from the other patients.” This also applies to the Würzburg Mitte clinical center with the Juliusspital and Missioklinik locations, confirms Director Dr. Johann Paula.
Main-Klinik Ochsenfurt is also helping to prevent the risk of infection: “With chief physician Dr. Manfred Knof, we have a trained hospital hygienist in our ranks who, together with the hygiene specialist, takes and monitors the measures,” said Alexander Schraml, managing director of Main-Klinik Ochsenfurt.
Both the Würzburg University Clinic, the Würzburg Mitte Clinic and the Ochsenfurt Main Clinic therefore report that patients who have acute symptoms of a serious illness are urgently asked to contact their family doctor or in life-threatening situations with the emergency services (Tel .: 112 ) Contact us and, if necessary, go to the clinic.
“In everyday life, we must not let all of us abide by the rules to avoid infection or transmission of the corona virus,” Mayor Christian Schuchardt and District Administrator Thomas Eberth urged in their communication. “We must not recklessly gamble away the good situation that has now been achieved in the city and district of Würzburg. Please continue to abide by the contact restrictions and compliance with the hygiene rules. You can find out about the currently applicable ones via our citizens’ phone or on the city and district websites Inform rules. “
