The number of corona infections in Germany is currently falling slightly, but the deaths are still worryingly high. The people who suffer a severe course of the infection often succumb to the consequences. As the German Sepsis Foundation criticizes, with the right treatment it would be quite possible to avoid corona deaths from blood poisoning.

Blood poisoning caused by viruses, bacteria or another pathogen is referred to as sepsis. For example, if you have pneumonia, the pathogens enter your bloodstream, causing the body to initiate a strong defense reaction. As a result, the internal organs are severely damaged. One problem why the sepsis of so many corona deaths is not recognized in time is that many of the uncomplicated corona cases cure their illness at home and not in the hospital.
