Corona overview: ban on events in Brabant and fourth death in the Netherlands

The RIVM also came up with new figures about the infections in the Netherlands. A fourth Dutch dead has been confirmed. It is unknown whether it is a man or a woman. It is clear, however, that the patient aged 78 had a vulnerable health.

In addition, 61 new cases of infection have been added. In total there are now 382 infections in the Netherlands. Of these, 161 patients were infected abroad. The source of the remaining cases is unknown whether the investigation is still ongoing.

Between 6 and 9 March, RIVM carried out a sample survey among 1097 care workers in hospitals in Brabant. It emerged that 4 percent of hospital staff is infected with the corona virus.

Sharpened travel advice Italy

On Monday, Italian Prime Minister Conte announced that the emergency measures that already applied to the north of the country will be extended to the rest of Italy. Traveling between municipalities is only permitted if it is strictly necessary and people must stay at home as much as possible. Universities, schools, swimming pools, theaters, bars and discos are closed. Public gatherings such as funerals and weddings are also prohibited.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has therefore tightened the travel advice for Italy: for parts in the north of the country, code red still applies (no travel), in the rest of the country code orange now applies: only necessary journeys.
