Dry cough and headache: Allergy sufferers and Covid-19 sufferers are familiar with these symptoms. The lung disease sometimes causes symptoms similar to an allergy. Here’s how to find out what it is. The symptoms differ in three ways:
1. Nose and eyes
In addition to sneezing, runny nose and nasal congestion, allergy sufferers usually complain of itchy eyes. The latter does not occur in people with Covid 19.
2. General condition
Covid-19 infected people often have a very high fever, feel tired and weak. This is less the case with allergy sufferers. Fever never occurs or only in extreme cases. People with allergies also usually feel physically fit and rarely complain about feeling weak.
3. Duration of symptoms
In corona sufferers, the symptoms of infection – fever, sneezing, sore throat, runny nose – are present all day long. In the case of allergies, they start more spontaneously, with breaks in between and at certain times or especially outdoors (pollen).
Important: Allergy sufferers have a slightly increased risk of infection, but do not have to take any unusual precautions, but rather observe the general rules of behavior such as regular hand washing or avoiding large crowds.
