Corona in Tromsø – Test queues of up to three hours

On Monday, Tromsø municipality held a press conference, shortly after the leader of the corona center in the municipality and the mayor encouraged everyone to test themselves.

Mayor Gunnar Wilhelmsen states that two new cases of infection have been registered today. There is a waiting time of up to three hours to take a test in the municipality, says Wilhelmsen.

– On Sunday, we were again reminded of the seriousness of the situation. We must expect to be in that contagion situation next week. Today it is also long queues. This shows that the people of Tromsø take responsibility, he says.

Tromsø holds a press conference about the corona situation at 13.25 Monday.

On the municipality’s website, there is a list of places where there has been infection. If you have been there, you have to be tested, he says.

No new measures are currently planned in the municipality, says Wilhelmsen. But they are watching when the government presents new measures on Tuesday.

Municipal chief physician Kathrine Kristoffersen clarifies about the test message.

– What is the recommendation is in line with FHI’s test criteria. This means that those who are encouraged to get tested are those who have been at risk of infection, because they are close contacts or have been to places with a risk of infection. We encourage everyone with symptoms to get tested, the same when entering or suspecting infection, says Kristoffersen.

Kristoffersen says they have a good overview of the infection picture.
