Corona in Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt: incidence increased almost everywhere – current case numbers from the RKI

The RKI reports the corona numbers for the region around Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt. Incidences continue to rise in most districts.

Offenbach/Hanau/Darmstadt – The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) has published the current number of corona cases for the Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt region. The incidence of corona is increasing in almost all cities and districts in the region.

Vaccination against the coronavirus is a crucial way out of the pandemic. Corona vaccinations for children in particular are in high demand. Since December 2021, children over the age of five can also be vaccinated. A nationwide vaccination requirement has recently been discussed again and again, but not implemented.

Corona in the region: hospitalization of Covid 19 patients in Hesse

In addition to the corona incidence, there are two other indicators that are used to assess the infection situation in the country – the hospitalization incidence (or rate) and the occupancy of intensive care beds. According to the RKI, the hospitalization incidence in Hesse is currently 6.47 (as of March 11, 2022). A week earlier it was 6.03. The number describes the number of patients admitted to Hessian hospitals within a week because of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants.

According to the DIVI intensive care register, 57 patients with Covid-19 in intensive care units in Hesse currently (as of March 12, 2022) have to be ventilated. A total of 133 Covid patients were in the intensive care units.

As a rule, the lower the reporting level, the more up-to-date the figures are. New infections or deaths below 0 are due to reporting corrections.
  • * Those: Corona in Hanau | Stand: 10.03.2022 | The Robert Koch Institute does not explicitly report the number of infections for the city of Hanau.

New corona rules also apply in Hesse. On Friday (March 4th, 2022) they were relaxed in many areas. This applies to gastronomy and hotels as well as discotheques, as announced by the Hessian state government. (luw)

The case numbers of the RKI may differ from those of the individual federal states. One reason for this is the longer transmission paths between the RKI and the responsible health authorities. The Covid-19-Dashboard of the RKI can also be adjusted during the day. The RKI also warns: It could be that the decline in incidence does not reflect the actual infection process, but is the result of an overloaded reporting and testing system. In addition, it could play a role that some people do not have their positive self-test or rapid test clarified with a PCR test. They will then not appear in the statistics.
