What to do if the contact restrictions make it difficult for friends and acquaintances to help haul furniture? The relocation auction Internet portal concludes that many people rely on professional help when moving house under Corona conditions. With almost 2000 orders per month, which are brokered via the homepage, they have 15 percent more orders than in 2019, the company reports. Smaller removals in particular with a budget of up to 2000 euros would be in greater demand. The Bremen professional association furniture haulage and logistics (Famö), however, cannot confirm this trend.
No office changes, but long-distance moves
Famö board member Waldemar Seidler sees “no big change overall”. “I can’t say that we have a lot more to do,” says the freight forwarder. This applies to his own shipping company as well as to many colleagues. “Private moves have remained roughly the same, but there are fewer commercial ones,” says Seidler. “Autumn is usually the main time for this.” Seidler cites the trend towards home offices as the main reasons for the decline in office changes, which he estimates at around 30 percent. What has increased in his forwarding company, however, is the number of long-distance removals. Seidler: “In 2019 we had maybe one a month, now two or three. Often it is the elderly who have noticed over the past few months that they would rather move closer to their children. “
