In proportion, by far the most corona cases were reported in Staphorst. Converted here, 1458 positive corona tests per 100,000 inhabitants were reported. Last week there were 642.
The Biblebelt municipalities of Woudenberg (509), Renswoude (422), Scherpenzeel (354), Barneveld (320) and Zwartewaterland (304) are also in the top 10 of municipalities where the most infections were reported last week. In these municipalities the vaccination rate is relatively low compared to the rest of the Netherlands.
The map below shows how the newly reported positive tests are distributed across the country. Please note: because people are tested less often in case of complaints and because there are self-tests on the market, the figures can give a distorted picture.

Doubling in 108 municipalities
The number of infections also rose sharply in municipalities outside the Bible Belt last week. In 108 municipalities there was at least a doubling of the number of infections.
For example, the number of newly reported positive tests in Leiden was four times higher than a week earlier. At the beginning of October, the Leidens Ontzet took place there, a well-attended multi-day party.
Only the municipalities of Pekela, Ameland, Schiermonnikoog and Rozendaal remained completely corona-free last week.
