From June 8 to 14, an average of 49 people with Covid-19 were hospitalized each day, a 29 percent decrease from the previous seven-day period. It was already from 20 September that an average of less than 50 corona patients per day ended up in hospital.
There are currently 717 corona patients in hospital, 273 of which require intensive care.
This will allow hospitals to gradually switch to Phase 0, which means that only 15 percent of all recognized beds are still occupied by Covid patients.
Infections
Between 5 and 11 June, an average of about 801 new infections were detected daily, a decrease of 42 percent compared to the week before.
In total, 1,076,579 infections have already been registered in our country since the start of the pandemic.
Even when we compare the daily figures, we only see positive signals, with fewer confirmed infections on all days than the same day a week earlier.
The reproduction number is 0.79 according to Sciensano’s dashboard. That means that the epidemic is still losing momentum.
Testing
But fewer tests were also taken between June 5 and 11, on average 40,156.3 tests per day, which amounts to a decrease of 10 percent.
The positivity ratio drops to 2.5 percent.

The number of deaths fell by 41 percent: between 5 and 11 June, an average of 8.4 people lost their lives every day. The counter in our country now comes to 25,093 Covid-19 deaths.
Vaccinations
Meanwhile, according to the dashboard, 5,641,112 Belgians have received a first dose of a vaccine, which corresponds to 49 percent of the total population and 61.2 percent of the adult population. Some 3,081,926 compatriots have now been fully vaccinated, accounting for 26.7 percent of the total population (33.4 percent of the adult population).
In Flanders 3,391,733 inhabitants are at least partially vaccinated, accounting for 50.98 percent of the total population. 1,850,575 of them have already received both shots or a Johnson & Johnson vaccine. This concerns 27.82 percent of the population.
