Corona Cases Appear in Luxury Hotels in Singapore, From Towels and Bed Sheets?

Singapore

Hotel luxury, Mandarin Orchard Singapore, is in the spotlight. That was after reports of 13 people were exposed to the Corona virus, allegedly through towels and blankets.

A total of 13 people came from ten different countries. They both show no symptoms.

The Singapore Ministry of Health (MOH) announced a high genetic similarity between guests infected with the Corona virus.

Quoted from Strait Times, Sunday (27/12/2020), said that those infected with COVDI-19 were suspected of getting it from one source and it could have happened in a hotel.

Ministry of Health Singapore (MOH) act fast. All guests are checked in stages. In addition, around 500 staff were tested for COVID-19, and the hotel was cleaned and disinfected.

Association of experts in the field of infectious diseases Hsu Li Yang from SawSwee Hock School of Public Health stated that the possibility of transmission of COVID-19 could occur through hotel staff or items there, such as towels and bed linen.

“If they (13 cases) did not see each other during their stay, it could be hotel staff or items in the hotel that triggered the infection,” said Hsu.

According to Hsu, if the distribution is correct through towels and sheets, it will depend on the distribution and cleaning process.

The Singapore government also disinfected the locations where the 13 people visited. Meanwhile, residents who were in the same location as 13 people infected with the Corona virus were asked to report their health.

Singapore noted that there were 29 deaths due to complications of COVID-19, while 15 people who tested positive died from other causes.
