Behind the numbers for the acutely infected, the new infections, the patients in the hospital and those who have recovered are each real destinies. We therefore want to make the people behind the numbers visible – and we have nine hammers talked about her corona infection and the effects, some of which are still noticeable today. You have been reading her story every day since December 30th on WA.de. Today is about Ravil Rubashkin:

The first symptoms came overnight. Ravil Rubashkin did not attach any importance to them at first. At the end of March he woke up with a cough and felt limp. “I thought I was going to get a flu,” says Rubashkin. He works as a doctor in the Evangelical Hospital (EVK) and had changed departments shortly before his illness.

Cough and weakness as the main symptoms

The 31-year-old hadn’t thought of Corona at the time. The first illnesses in Hamm had occurred two weeks earlier anyway, the illness was not yet in general awareness. Nevertheless, he was tested for the Covid 19 pathogen in the EVK. After two days, the result was clear: Corona.

Ultimately, it was not possible to clarify where he was infected. The illness itself was quite mild for him. “Apart from the cough and a strong feeling of weakness, I had no other symptoms,” he says. These mild symptoms appeared for over a week, then he felt better. “I was very lucky that the disease had such a mild course for me.” Rubashkin: “I also do not have any long-term effects and I hope it stays that way.”

Quarantine was extremely boring

He remembers the time in quarantine as extremely boring. “I was all alone and I wasn’t feeling very bad, the minutes just passed very slowly.” In the days of loneliness, he started to learn a programming language. He took care of himself, the cupboards were filled accordingly.

Even if his illness was mild, he has great respect for Corona. From his daily work environment he has examples that the illness can be much more tragic and that there are long-term effects.
