The sports director of CD Tenerife, Juan Carlos Cordero, landed on the island on Monday afternoon – in flight from Seville – with the first signing tied for the 2021-22 project. This is Álex Corredera, whom he was able to follow in situ in the duel that Badajoz and Amorebieta played at the weekend in the promotion phase to Second A.
Cordero traveled to Extremadura to follow the matches played on the route to the silver competition, and also took advantage of the trip to address different meetings in his eagerness to sketch the plan for the coming year in the best possible way.
Corredera will sign for three seasons with the representative. The agreement is a fact and has been possible thanks to the insistence of the professional from Cartagena, who already took an interest in the coveted attacking midfielder in the last summer window and has been on the operation for several months.
The Girona player has been ‘sold’ an exciting project and with the idea of installing Tenerife at the top of the table. The blue and white insistence has been the key. Of course, still with doubts about the identity of the coach. The final meeting with Luis Miguel Ramis will be addressed in the coming dates, which as of Tuesday still has no date. The decision on the coach will be “club”, so the continuity of Tarragona is not ruled out if the president, Miguel Concepción, who already in February took for granted his renewal, insists on it.
Corredera is the only signing closed or close to signing in CD Tenerife. From Badajoz they like other players (Pablo Vázquez, the Tomás or Dani Fernández; and the midfielder Sergi Maestre are the ones who are in the front line of the showcase), but in no case as first options. In addition, some of them play in already closed demarcations -except for surprise- by the representative.
