Instead of getting a medal from the sport (sport) of football, Muhammad Uchida Sudirman actually made a sweet achievement from the muaythai sport at the XX Papua PON 2021.
Yes, Muhammad Uchida Sudirman managed to win two medals at once for DKI Jakarta at PON XX Papua 2021. The 18-year-old athlete won a gold medal in the Men’s Waikru Art class after overthrowing Papua’s representatives.
Then, Uchida also got a bronze medal in the Fight class -73 kg. For this achievement, Uchida expressed his gratitude, especially to the management of Persija Jakarta who had supported him in a career in two sports.
“Thank you to everyone who always helps me. Thank you to the Persija management for giving me leeway to be able to have a career in two sports,” said Uchida, quoted from the official Persija Jakarta website, Tuesday (5/10/2021).
“Alhamdulillah, I can repay with achievements. Maybe not the best but I tried my best.”
Please note, Uchida is part of the 34 Kemayoran Tiger players – Persija’s nickname – who are competing in Liga 1 2021-2022. He is also determined to be part of the Garuda Muda squad at the 2023 U-20 World Cup.
“Obviously, joining Persija’s main squad can be a burden on where I will have a career. Maybe, in the next 3-5 years I will focus more on achieving my goals in football. There’s the 2023 U-20 World Cup, I want to be a part of that.”
