Controversy Surrounding USB-C Port in Apple’s iPhone 15 Series: Charging and Power Bank Issues

Jakarta, CNBC IndonesiaApple has brought several updates to the iPhone 15 series. One of them, the latest flagship already uses a USB-C port for charging.

This is new history, because so far Apple has consistently used its own Lightning port. However, the USB-C embedded in the iPhone 15 has generated controversy.

One of them is because there is an issue that the iPhone 15 cannot be charged using a USB-C cable belonging to an Android cellphone. This is counter-productive to the aim of using USB-C on the iPhone to make it more universal.

Apart from that, an iPhone 15 Pro user also reported a strange incident when charging with a power bank. He shared this via the online forum Reddit.

Quoted from Wccftech, an iPhone 15 Pro user explained when he wanted to charge it with an Anker power bank. Strangely, it is not the iPhone 15 Pro battery that is charged, but instead the power bank is charged with the power on the cellphone.

This report shocked Reddit until Anker issued an official statement. According to management, there was an error in the process of connecting the power bank to the iPhone 15 Pro.

Users should charge the iPhone 15 Pro from USB-A, not USB-C on a power bank. Because, the iPhone 15 Pro was released with reverse wired charging capability.

In fact, this capability is made so that the iPhone 15 Pro can charge other iPhones when needed. However, it seems that the iPhone 15 Pro doesn’t recognize the power bank, so that ability becomes active.

It is currently unclear whether Apple has fixed this issue through the latest software update.
