Controversy Surrounding Safi Naz Kazem and Her Library Sale: What’s the Reason Behind It?

A famous Egyptian writer and novelist sparked controversy after she published a post on her Facebook page, in which she offered her library for sale for one million pounds, equivalent to $32,000, without disclosing the reason that prompted her to do so.

The writer and writer Safi Naz Kazem’s followers were surprised by a post on her page saying, “For those who appreciate and care…my entire library is for sale for a million pounds.”

The post also aroused the curiosity of her followers, who tried to inquire from her about the reason behind her decision, but through her answer and responses to them, she did not give them a satisfactory response. Rather, she commented by saying: She made her decision with full awareness and will and for the benefit of any heritage, cultural and research entity that knows how to examine, arrange and benefit from the library’s holdings.

One of the followers commented, directing her speech to the writer, by saying, “Excuse me, madam, write a will for your daughter – who is the writer and journalist Nawara Najm – so that one of the grandchildren will benefit from it and make him a capable thinker.”

Who is Safi Naz?

It is noteworthy that Safi Naz Muhammad Kazem is a writer and writer, born in Alexandria Governorate on August 17, 1937, at the age of 86.

She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Cairo University in 1959, then traveled to America in 1960, and obtained a master’s degree in theatrical criticism from New York University in June 1966, and returned to Egypt in the same year.

She joined the “Akhbar Al-Youm” institution as a journalist in November 1955. She was then a student at the Faculty of Arts, Journalism Department, Cairo University, and worked in the Research Department, “Akher Sa’a” magazine, and “The New Generation” magazine. Al-Musawwar, Al-Hilal and Al-Kawakeb magazines.

She married the famous Egyptian colloquial poet Ahmed Fouad Negm on August 24, 1972, and in October of 1973 she gave birth to her only daughter, so she called her Nawara Al-Intisar Ahmed Fouad Negm.

She is the author of several books and publications, including “Romantics”, which is her first book published by Dar Al-Hilal in the year 1970, with an introduction written by the great and late writer Ahmed Bahaa El-Din, “Baghdad Diaries”, “The Needs of Writing”, “The Nasserite Deception” and “On the Issue of Unveiling and the Veil”. “Visions and Self”, “Truth and Brainwashing”, “From the Notebook”, “On Love and Freedom”, “Taxi of Speech” and “Sanat Latifa”.
